Custom and Bespoke
What is custom/bespoke?
A custom made or bespoke design, is a one of a kind piece made just for you. I will work with you one on one to come up with a design concept, while also providing expert advice on choice of materials, gemstones and durability. I will not replicate a custom design unless otherwise agreed upon.
How do I order something custom made?
Email me at mvhjewellery@gmail.com or use the website contact form. Let me know the following info:
the kind of piece you are after (eg. ring, locket, matching tiaras for your whole family)
preferred materials (eg.gold, silver, gemstones)
any relevant details that you want represented in the piece, or any info you think will add to the ‘vibe’ (eg. stamped initials, symbols, a specific colour, organic look or clean minimalist look etc)
your budget if you have one
a timeline if you have one
I want something but don’t have a clear idea
No trouble at all, you don’t have to have it all figured out. I will be able to provide a few inital designs to get the ball rolling, and we can edit from there. Enquiries along the lines of “Hello, I want a ring for my mother who loves flowers and the colour purple, I have a budget of up to $300 and its for her birthday in 2 months” … is most welcome!
How does the whole process work?
Once I recieve a custom request I will reply to confirm some details, such as if the idea is viable and if my current workload will accomadate your timeline. If that is confirmed, I will then get back to you with some design options. Depending on how specific the request is, there could be a couple to several designs to chose from. At this stage I will also provide a rough quote for the different designs. I will also ask for your feedback and wether you would like any changes made, sometimes customers enjoy mixing and matching from 2 different designs, in which case I would draw up some more options. Once the design is finalized and quote provided I will ask for a deposit. The rest of the payment is due on completion of the payment.
How does the deposit work?
The deposit secures your spot in the customs queue and confirms you want to move ahead with the process. The deposit is non refundable as it covers material costs. I will not begin working on your piece untill this is paid, this protects me from aquiring or using materials on a design that may not be paid for in full.
I want to discuss a custom but I’m not sure
No worries! I am happy to answer questions and talk about designs with you- you are under no obligation to commit. I only consider the job as confirmed and going ahead once you have paid your deposit.
I have some old jewellery, can you use the metal/stones?
Generally yes. Old or heirloom jewellery can be remade into somthing new.
Other important info:
Getting in early is always a good idea. Planning to propose, or have a friends big birthday coming up? Get in contact with plenty of notice, the best work takes time. That being said… I’ve been known to work some magic on short notice…
I cannot replicate another artists design. You’re welcome to use reference photos to show me style preferences, but ultimatley I will be coming up with an original design.
Payment plans are an option when discussed in advance. Work will be posted/ready to collect when all payments are squared away. If there is a time constraint payment can be done via afterpay but will incur a 10% fee.
I am ALWAYS happy to hear from you and I am here to help!
